Abstract: The paper sets out the advantages of using GPS in the route survey through the actual application and operational process of GPS in Beijing-Baotou railway line. The actual application proves that the GPS survey has advantages of high positioning accuracy, fast speed, easy operation and low costs compared with traditional survey methods.
