Abstract: In America, career academy is a kind of small school within an ordinary high school which serves both for students’ college entrance and career development. It has been a successful education reform in the U.S. high school for more than 40 years. This article analyzed on the career academy’s origin and development, characteristics and operation, and the results show that career academy has distinctive characteristics in building beneficial education environment, respecting students’ physical and mental development rules and efficiently using various education resources, and all the above aspects can provide useful reference to the healthy development of ordinary high school in China.
