Abstract: Zirconium and hafnium is a pair of elements with similar geochemical properties. Zirconium can form an independent mineral and hafnium mainly exists in isomorphism state. Their separation and variation in geological process carries abundant geologic information. Some indicative functions are involved in some changes in zirconium and hafnium contents included in basic, intermediate and acidic rocks and the ratio value of Zr / Hf,showing that when the content of Zr and Hf increases, the Zr / Hf ratio would decrease gradually in general.
