Abstract: Objective To investigate the influence of hyperuricemia (HUA)upon cerebral infarction in the senile patients. Methods In total,1 06 elderly patients with cerebral infarction were recruited and di-vided into the HUA (n =54)and normal uric acid groups (control group,n =52)according to the level of blood uric acid.Upon admission, the levels of triglyceride (TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),total cholesterol (TC),von Willebrend factor (vWF),6-keto-prostaglandin F1 α(6-keto-PGF1 α),fibrinogen (Fg)and plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1 ) were measured and statistically compared between two groups.Short-term prognosis was compared between two groups after 30-d observation. Results The rate of poor prognosis in the HUA group was 35%,significantly higher compared with 1 3% in the control group (P <0.05).In the HUA group, the levels of TG,LDL-C, TC,vWF,Fg and PAI-1 were considerably higher whereas the concentration of 6-keto-PGF1 αand HDL-C was significantly lower compared with those in the control group (all P <0.01 ).Conclusion Senile patients diag-nosed with cerebral infarction complicated with HUA have relatively high levels of TG,LDL-C,TC,vWF,Fg and PAI-1 and relative poor short-term prognosis.
