Abstract: Using quarterly data of China’s commercial banks during the period of 2006- 2014 and multivariate Granger causality test and impulse response function of SVAR model, the paper makes an empirical test on the relationship among credit supply, economic fluctuation and the quality of banks’ credit assets in China. The results prove that the credit supply is the key driver for the economic fluctuation and the quality of banks’ credit assets. Aimed at current domestic economic situations, the paper suggests that the monetary authorities should encourage commercial banks to expand the credit supply to promote the economic development and restrain the decline of the quality of banks’ credit assets.
