Abstract: Several samples have been made for inquiring the operation characteristics of domestic R290 room air-conditioner. It used different kinds of compressors. One is invariable frequency compressor; the other is variable frequency compressor. The air-conditioner samples were tested in enthalpy different laboratory with different capillary tube lengths and perfusion amounts. The best working character results was analyzed. The results show that the cooling performance of R290 is closed to R22. But the heating performance of the sample which is used invariable frequency compressor is obviously insufficient. It is only 90.8%of R22. After changing bigger heat exchanger, the heating performance increased 2.4%. The heating performance of the sample with variable frequency compressor and bigger refrigerant perfusion is good. It is 98.9%of R22. It is found that one of the reasons of deficiency heating capacity of R290 is low refrigerant mass flow. The technology of frequency conversion and refrigerant injection could obviously improve this problem.
