Abstract: As implementing the rescue from a railway accident, it will play an important role for commanding accident operations to send the images/pictures of the accident scene into the control center in time. If a compact Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is used to photograph the accident scene and send in real-time the relevant images/pictures into the control center over 3G/4G virtual privacy network, the problems such as having a limited visual angle of common image transmission systems and transmitting static images only can be overcome. So UAVs will be applied in railways with a good prospect. The paper introduces the composition of UAV aerial photograph system, the structure and advantages and disadvantages of accident scene image transmission system based on UAVs.
