Abstract: The objective of this experiment was to determine the ensiling characteristics of erect milkvetch (Astragalus adsurgens Pall.) treated with different additives. According to random design, there were 7 treatments including control (CK), sodium propionate (SP: 0.1%), Lactobacillus plantarum (LP: 5×105U/g), Cellulase (CEL : 0.0015%) , Lactobacillus plantarum + cellulase (LP: 5×105U/g; CEL: 0.0015%), Lactobacillus plantarum + sodium propionate (LP: 5×105U/g; SP: 0.1%) and cellulase+ sodium propionate (CEL: 0.0015%; SP: 0.1%). The fermentation quality and nutrient contents of treatments were determined after ensiling for 45 days. Results showed that it was dififcult to produce high quality erect milkvetch silages without additives. Biological additives can improve the quality of silage erect milkvetch. Lactic acid bacteria combined with cellulase could be an efifcient strategy to improve the fermentation quality of silage erect milkvetch.
