Abstract: As the number of rural family ’s children declines and the status of rural women in nuclear family rises,it becomes necessary and possible for the daughters to fulfill the obligations of supporting their old parents. Based on the survey conducted in Xunwu,Yibin and Suizhou, cities in different provinces, this study has found that the divergence between male and female makes it difficult for daughter ’s obligations of supporting their old parents. Daughters have to provide resources to their own parents instead of raising them in their own house. The Logistic analysis also shows that community culture, the children number of the daughter and the daughter’s willingness to raise their parents have significant influence on the resources provided by the daughters.
