Abstract: Objective: To study the drug resistance and rationale for choosing antibiotics for urethral Ureaplasma urealyticum(Uu). Methods: The Mycoplasma identification and drug sensitivity kit from Zhuhai Li Tuo was used to detect Mycoplasma in 243 males with urethral infections. The Uu positive samples were further tested for sensitivity to antibiotics. Choosing effective antibiotics was based on the results of sensitivity test. Results: Among 82 Uu positive samples, the rate of resistance to quinolones was higher, but they were sensitive to tetracycline. A marked improvement was achieved following treatment with sensitive antibiotics. Conclusion: Drug resistance test is important for clinicians to choose antibiotics for treating male urethral Uu.
