A case of psoriasis occurred at the site of healed herpes zoster zone: isomorphic response

Abstract: A case of psoriasis occurred at the site of healed herpes zoster zone is reported. A 70-year-old women presented with infiltrated squamous plaque on the right lumbar region for half a month. Physical exmaination revealed three soybean-to nail-sized oval inflammatory erythemas with lamellar scales on the right side of paravertebral lumbar region. After the scales were removed the underlying skin had a smooth glossy red membrane, and Auspitz’s sign was positive.Histopathological examination showed mild hyperkeratosis with parakeratosis of the epidermis, Munro micro-abscesses within the horny layer, acanthosis, mild edema, the vessels in the papillary dermis were dilated and tortuous, and there was infiltration of lymphocytes and a few neutrophils. The diagnosis of psoriasis occurred at the site of healed herpes zoster zone was finally made. The lesions resolved after topical treatment of corticosteroid.
