Abstract: The“changyi”is a form of salute the gesture of which is standing on the straight legs and holding the clasped hands up in front of the forehead, and then bowing as deep as possible while stretching the clasped hands down to the ground;because in this salute, the hands move from the highest point, which is the forehead, to the lowest point, which is the ground, the distance between which is roughly exact the height (length) of the saluter, this salute form is called“changyi (lit. length bowing:bowing with clasped hands moving the full length of a person)”. Changyi is the salute made by a person of lower standing to a person of higher standing only second to kneeling salute, showing the attitude of being neither naughty nor humble of a person of lower standing to a person of higher standing.
