Abstract: The foundation platform of the Yellow House in present-day Xincheng Square, Xi'an City is about 3 m tall and 57 m long. On each of the two sides of the Yellow House, there are a row of dwelling caves;to the west of the western row of dwelling caves, there is a high platform called as“Inner City Wall”. By reviewing relevant textual materials and many times of onsite survey, the author of this paper drew the conclusion that the foundation platform and the dwelling caves on its two sides were a part of the south wall of the palace city of the Chang'an City of the Tang Dynasty through the conifrmation of the overlapping of the courses of the south wall of the palace city of the Sui and Tang Dynasties and the foundation of the Yellow House, the appearance of the dwelling caves and the function of the“Inner City Wall”in the history.
