Abstract: In The text of the epitaph written in regular script style (kaishu) clearly narrated the genealogy, life and career of Wei Xie, which was related to some military events in the early Sui Dynasty, including the suppressing of the rebellions in the Lingnan region and Panyu area. This paper made comparative studies on the historic literatures and the epitaph, and discussed the question that in historic literature, Wei Xie's last ofifcial title was the cishi (prefect) of Qin秦Prefecture but in the epitaph, his last ofifcial title was the cishi of Tai泰Prefecture.
