Abstract: With the testing instruments including portable energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (pXRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), micro Raman spectrometer and so on, this paper analyzed the earth samples fetched from the course of the canal at the main entrance and Ru Garden of the Yuanmingyuan Park. The results showed that the chemical compositions and phase structures of all of the eight samples relfected they are composed mainly of quartz and calcite, implying that the constructions of both the canal and the Ru Garden used the lime-sand-clay mixed concrete. This research result provided scientiifc bases for the protection and restoration of these two remains of Yuanmingyuan Park.
