Abstract: Fine- grained Q345 high strength low alloy steel was welded by automatic submerged arc welding. The optical microscopy were used to analyze the microstructure,and the mechanical properties of weld joints were tested by universal material testing machine and pendulum machine. The results show that the base metal of 345 steel consists of fine-grained ferrite and pearlite. The welding metal shows higher strength than that of the base metal. Both the welding metal and heat affected zone possess good impact toughness. The quality of the welded joint could meet the requirements in.
