Abstract: The paper analyzes the regional economic growth efficiency of 30 provinces except Tibet in China mainly using Malmquist index. The results show that the level of the overall total factor productivity of China’s provinces was greater than 1 from2000 to 2013, indicating that the overall regional economic growth efficiency took on a trend of increasing and was mainly caused by the change of the technological progress. The maximum value in 2009 and minimum in 2008 was mainly affected by the world economy and the national macroeconomic regulation and control. From the perspective of the different provinces, it is known that Malmquist index of Inner Mongolia reached maximum, minimum in Xinjiang. From the perspective of eastern, middle and western economic zones, it is surprised to find that in the overall, the Malmquist index value of the western economic zone is higher than that of the middle and eastern zones. The reason is that the trend is mainly caused by the implementation of the national policy strategy.
