Abstract: The method of detecting the cylinder compression performance by analyzing the instantaneous speed of dragging diesel engine was put forward .The instantaneous speed of crankshaft and in‐cylinder compression pressure were both measured simultaneously during the dragging process ,the nonlinear mapping relationship between instantaneous speed and cylinder com‐pression pressure was built by using RBF neural network ,the detection of cylinder compression pressure was realized according to the fluctuation of instantaneous speed and thus the cylinder compression performance could be estimated .
