Abstract: The model of intake port methanol injection and in‐cylinder diesel injection was built with AVL Fire software and was verified with test results .The effect of EGR on combustion and emission for methanol‐diesel engine was studied by chan‐ging the EGR rate of 0% ,15% ,25% and 35% respectively under the condition of 2 200 r/min and 136 N · m .The results showed that the ignition delay first shortened and then prolonged and the maximum in‐cylinder pressure decreased with the in‐crease of EGR rate .The ignition delay shortened by 2° when the EGR rate was 5% .The distribution curve of heat release rate changed to single peak from double peak and the duration of in‐cylinder high temperature shortened with the decline of maxi‐mum temperature when the EGR rate increased .With the increase of EGR rate ,the emission of NOx reduced and that of CO and soot increased .Compared with 0% EGR rate ,NOx emission of 15% EGR rate reduced by 54% .
