Abstract: With the rapid development of social economy, the shortage of agriculture scientific and technological innovation in China is further highlighted, which seriously restricts the sustainable and healthy growth of the national economy. Therefore, the state promulgated the National Long-term Science and Technology Development Plan(2006-2020). This plan strengthened the studies on agriculture from the strategic height, focusing on nine selected topics in excavation, preservation of germplasm resources and innovation and oriented cultivation of new Series,healthy breeding of livestock and fisheries as well as disease prevention and control, deep processing of agricultural products and modern storage and so on.A number of prospective science and technology projects have been developed. Since the seven years’ implementation of planning, the progress ofagricultural science and technology smoothly proceeded. The selected topics were implemented well, and made a number of achievements, in accordance with the new challenges, new requirements of economic and social development and environmental changes in the fi eld of agriculture, through a scientifi c planning and optimization deployment, strengthen the innovation and development ability of the field of agriculture.
