Abstract: According to the survey data of the situation of the credit demand of 905 peasant households of Shangluo city, using Logit model, the paper makes the empirical test on the influencing factors of farmers’ credit demand, farmer financial institutions’ credit demand and farmer financial institutions’ credit constraint, and not only estimates the influencing factors of farmers’ credit demand and financial institutions’ credit demand from the perspective of demand, but also estimates the influencing factors that farmers’ credit demand can’t be satisfied from the perspective of supply. The results show that the potential credit demand of farmers inShangluo city is strong, but due to that the level of their own income is low, their cultural level is not high, they are not willing to bear the high interest rate for consumption loans, and farmers are not willing to borrow money from financial institutions. At the same time, when the peasant households choose to get loans from financial institutions, because they have no acquaintance, lack of collateral, and are not assessed as the farmers with a good credit, it is more difficult for them to get loans from financial institutions. In the end, the paper puts forward policy recommendations on solving the difficulties in borrowing for farmers and lending for financial institutions from two aspects of expanding farmers’ credit demand and increasing rural financial supply.
