Abstract: A total of 372 lactating Holstein cows were used to evaluate the effect of Lactic acid bacterium on milk production, milk composition and the count of somatic cells. These cows were randomly divided into two groups: control group (basal diet) and treatment group (basal diet adding 133 g/d/head lactic acid bacterium). The experiment lasted for 6 weeks. The results indicated that addition of lactic acid bacterium increased the daily milk production. Compared with the control group, cows in treatment group had lower milk somatic cell counts (P<0.05). No signiifcant differences were found on milk protein, milk fat and milk lactose between the control group and the treatment group.
