Abstract: A total of 168 healthy and newborn calves were divided into 2 groups randomly, and the experimental group feed LAB for 15 days. The results indicated that the diarrhea rate of the experimental group was 14.29%, compared to 29.76% in the control group. And the death rate of the control group was 3.57% with none death in the experimental group. In another group, 27 calves with diarrhea were treated with LAB for 5 days, the diarrhea rate decreased from 100% to 3.70% and the cure rate increased from 0 to 85.19%. Besides, the newborn calves were treated with LAB can prevent diarrhea effectively. Results indicated that LAB can prevent calves diarrhea and decrease the death rate of calves. Therefore, LAB can be used widely as probiotic to prevent and cure diarrhea.
