Abstract: Based on the flexible multi-body dynamics ,a coupling model of piston motion ,deformation and mixed lubrication was established ,which fully expressed the piston dynamics and mixed lubrication characteristics .The effects of piston rough surface geometry parameters on mixed lubrication characteristics were studied .The results show that the maximum contact pressure decreases and the fluid friction power loss increases with the increase of roughness .The average height of asperity and the scattering of asperity height have a great influence on contact pressure .Consequently ,it is essential to select a suitable roughness and to minimize the average height of asperity and its scattering degree as much as possible in the tribology design of piston surface .
