Abstract: Dragginh engine platform tests were made for three kinds of tappets made of alloy cast iron. By using x-ray diffraction, their surface textures, broadening of x-ray diffraction line and residual stresses discovered at different stages of the tests were determined and measured respectively.A comparison between those measured results shows that the orientation between a slip plane and its friction surface is one of the important factors that affects the life-time of tappets is different, the variation format of the residual stress in their fatigue wearing processes will also be different and their cementite will retain to different degrees. Based on the elastic-plastic model proposed by A.R. Rosenfield[1], the results mentioned above are discussed in this paper.
