Abstract: Camshaftless valve actuation includes electromagnetic,electrohydraulic,electropneumatic and electromechanical types.it could vary valve timing agilely,simplify the engine's structure,deactivate some of the engine's cylinders selectively and vary the effective compression ratio flexibly to adapt different fuels.So it could offer more advantages than general variable valve timing.The main problems of the camshaftless valve actuation are long response time, hard valve landing,high power consumption and complex,high-priced actuation system.At present there are no camshaftless valve actuation in practical application.
