Analysis of Non-medical Injury among Inpatients in Geriatric Department and the Prevention

Abstract: Due to the pathology, physiology, psychology and the influence of various factors such as internal and external environment, elderly hospitalized patients in geriatric department were more likely to have accidental injury. Accidental injury not only brings pain to patients and delays the rehabilitation of disease, but also has detrimental influence on doctor-patient relationship and increases the occurrence of medical disputes. It is the essential requirement of nursing to guarantee the safety of elderly hospitalized patients. This article summarized the common types of non-medical technical accidental injury among inpatients in geriatric department, analyzed the causes of the accidental injury, and put forward some corresponding preventive measures in order to reduce accidents and the bad influence.
