Abstract: Objective To explore the application effect of knowledge-attitude-belief-practice management in the improvement of hand washing compliance of nursing staff in neonatal department.Methods Since June, 2015, knowledge-attitude-belief-practice management was adopted among 30 nurses in neonatal department who were chosen as the research object. The management was strengthened in the aspects of knowledge, behavior and beliefs. The status quo of knowledge-attitude-belief-practice of hand hygiene and compliance of wash hands before and after the management were compared.Results After knowledge-attitude-belief-practice management, scores of hand hygiene in aspects of knowledge, attitude and belief and total score of nursing staff were significantly higher than that before the management, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Compliance in the aspects of hand washing, wearing disposable gloves, hand washing before contacting the newborn and using disinfectant after the management was better than that before, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Knowledge-attitude-belief-practice management can strengthen the awareness of hand hygiene, set up the belief of hand hygiene, regulate behavior and improve the compliance of hand hygiene.
