Abstract: Objective To explore the current status of and the relationship between social intelligence and job alienation among ICU nurses. Methods ICU nurses in 4 comprehensive hospitals in Wenzhou City were investigated with ThromsΦ Social Intelligence Scale and Nurses' Work Alienation Questionnaire.Results The scores of ThromsΦ Social Intelligence Scale and Nurses' Work Alienation Questionnaire among ICU nurses were (96.54±10.78) and (30.66±9.58), which were considered as medium; the differences of ICU nurses' work alienation scores in different subgroups in terms of professional title, work experience and monthly income were statistically significant (P<0.05); social intelligence was negatively correlated with three dimensions of work alienation: meaninglessness, powerlessness and helplessness. Conclusion The higher the social intelligence of ICU nurses is, the lower the sense of work alienation is.
