Abstract: Objective To discuss the potential risks for nursing students in hematology department during the process of using PICC, and put forward corresponding precautions. Methods The risks for nursing students in hematology department during the process of using PICC were evaluated based on the characteristics of the department of hematology and the corresponding risk prevention measures were developed. The teaching management and the relevant theory and skill training were strengthened, a good communication mechanism between nurses and patients was established, and the standard operating procedures of PICC infusion treatment and nursing were strictly followed. Result The risk awareness of nursing students in the hematology department during the process of using PICC was improved, and the relevant risk of PICC use was reduced. Conclusion Only by strengthening the PICC related knowledge training for nursing students, establishing a sound risk management mechanism for PICC use and improving the ability of nursing students to correctly identify and handle the PICC related problems in nursing work, can the patients' safety in PICC use be ensured and patient satisfaction be improved.
