Abstract: Objective To compare the incidence of acute adverse reaction between isotonic and hypotonic contrast medium in enhanced CT scanning. Methods 1152 patients who received enhanced CT examination in our hospital from June 2014 to December 2014 were selected. They were divided into isotonic group and hypotonic group according to their contrast medium in enhanced CT scanning. Compared the incidence of acute adverse reaction and its constitution between two groups. Results There were 325 cases in isotonic group and 827 cases in hypotonic group. The incidence of mild, moderate and severe acute adverse reaction between two groups was 6.46% vs. 17.53% (21cases vs. 145 cases), 0.31% vs. 0.48% (1 case vs. 4 cases) and 0% vs. 0.12% (0 case vs. 1 case). There were significant differences in terms of the incidence of acute adverse reaction (Z=23.952, P<0.05) and the incidence of mild acute adverse reaction (X2=23.360, P<0.05) between two groups while the incidence of moderate and severe acute adverse reaction was of no significant difference. Conclusion Isotonic contrast media can reduce the incidence of mild acute adverse reaction in enhanced CT scanning.
