Abstract: Objective To explore the causes of common nosocomial infections in ICU and learning of prevention and control. Methods 350 patients admitted in ICU wards from December 2013 to September2014 were divided into infected group and control group according to their infections. In this study, 80 patients were in infected group while 270 patients were in control group. Based on the analysis of gender, age, infected area, infection factors and the isolated bacteria from inspection samples, summarized the nosocomial infection prevention and control methods. Results There was no significant difference of the incidence between male and female (P>0.05). The incidence of nosocomial infection for patients under 60 years old was 12.7% while that for patients over 60 years old was 31.1% with significant difference (P<0.05). The top three vulnerable infected parts are the upper respiratory system, lower respiratory system and urinary system with the incidence of 30%, 25% and 20% respectively. It was found that the proportion of patients with surgery, tracheotomy, tracheal intubation, deep venous catheter, urinary tract intubation, the use of immune agents, over 10 days in ICU or over 5 days of mechanical ventilation in the infected group was significantly higher than that in the control group with statistically significant difference (P<0.05). After analyzing the isolated bacteria from inspection samples, gram negative bacteria (G-bacteria) was 60%, following with the fungus and gram positive bacteria (G+) The proportion was 25% and 15% respectively. Conclusion Respiratory system and urinary system are the main infection site while G- bacteria is the main infection bacteria. Through analysis on infection influencing factors, the prevention of infection in hospital should start from the internal environment, external environment and pathogenic body so as to reduce the incidence of nosocomial infection.
