Abstract: Hydraulic cylinder is widely used in construction machines, and the most common failures of hydraulic cylinder are internal leak-age and external leakage. The external leakage failure includes oiliness of shaft seals and leakage on guiding sleeve. This paper analysis the oiliness of the shaft seals, introduces the main reasons of this failure and the exclusion methods, which will have a guiding function for fast exclusion of the failure and improving the using life of the hydraulic cylinder.
