Abstract: The CFD analysis methods of inner flow and cavitation for axial piston machines were introduced. The cavatating flow of an axi-al piston pump and an axial piston motor in a hydrostatic transmission were simulated by this method. The simulation result of the pump showed that the second portplate can reduce the pressure shocks but it can not reduce cavitation in the flowing zone. The simulation result of the motor showed that the cavitation damage occurred at the portplate's outlet inner wall near to the top dead center, so damping groove should be added at this point. The simulation results of the cavitation damage were compared with the experimental results.
