Application Effect of Beds Allocation Contingency Plan in Gynecology and Obstetrics Department

Abstract: Objective To explore the clinical application effect of beds allocation contingency plan in gynecology and obstetrics department. Methods We established a Beds Allocation Center in our hospital to allocate all beds of inpatient department uniformly and make unified management regulation. Contingency plan were made and implemented to deal with the shortage of beds in gynecology and obstetrics department and its effect was observed.Results Our hospital had in total 2060 beds, among which 48 beds were in gynecology and obstetrics department. Of the 48 beds, 36 beds were for general use, 8 beds for predelivery observation and 4 beds for delivery. After the implementation of unified beds allocation, bed turnover frequency increased from 2.88 times to 3.68 times; Average hospitalization days reduced from 13.66 days to 9.45 days; Annual revenue increased by 19.1%.Conclusion The application of beds allocation scheme in obstetrics and gynecology department can effectively improve the utilization rate of beds, reduce waiting time of patients and enhance hospital's economic and social benefits and has become a new mode of medical resource management. The beds allocation scheme has significant positive effect and is worthy to be generalized.
