Abstract: Objective To study the application effect of exchanging patients' condition with SBAR model in shifting of duty in emergency ICU. Methods Take 410 patients admitted from February to August 2014 in emergency ICU as treatment group while 390 patients admitted the department from February to August 2013 in the same department as the control group. Compare and analyze the number of nursing adverse cases due to poor handover, the number of complaints, patients or family satisfaction etc. before and after using SBAR model.Results After the implementation of SBAR, patient's unplanned extubation, pressure sores, infusion infiltration, administration errors and complaints decreased significantly (P <0.05) while patients' satisfaction and nurses' mastery of the patients' condition improved significantly (P <0.05 ).Conclusion Exchanging patients' condition with SBAR model can improve and guarantee patient safety, conductive to improving nursing quality, patient satisfaction, and comprehensive ability of junior nurses.
