Analysis of Diagnosis and Treatment Mode of Day-care Ward in a Cancer Hospital

Abstract: Objective To establish a patient-centered diagnosis and treatment mode of day-care ward with feature of cancer hospital and to explore the efficiency of this mode. Method We established day-care wards and relevant management regulations in order to optimize the medical-seeking process constantly. Since June 2013, day-care wards opened and received inpatients of the hospital. Results After one-year operation of day-care wards, 5952 person-time day-care inpatients were received, which reduced the average hospitalization time by 11.8%(0.81 day) and reduced the average hospitalization costs per time by 9.3%(2096.78 yuan). Conclusion The establishment of the diagnosis and treatment mode of day-care ward improved the hospital's operation efficiency, saved the patient's medical costs, resolved difficulties in hospitalization and costs for cancer patients effectively and produced good social benefits. This mode is valuable for popularized application.
