Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of high quality nursing on controlling the incidence of nosocomial infection. Methods In total 120 ICU patients were included in our study and divided into observation group and control group based on the initial point of implementing high quality nursing management. Patients in control group received routine nursing management while patients in observation group received not only routine nursing as control group but also high quality nursing management to prevent infection. The nursing quality, incidence of nosocomial infection and patient satisfaction of the two groups were compared. Results After the implementation of high quality nursing management, nurses' scores in aspects of ward management, disinfection and isolation, infection monitoring and non-sterile operational skills were higher than before and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The nosocomial infection rate after the implementation of high quality nurse management was lower than that before, and the satisfaction of medical staffs and patients was also higher than before. The differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The high quality nursing management can reduce the incidence of nosocomial infection of patients in ICU effectively, ensure the hospitalization safety and improve nursing satisfaction of patients.
