Effect of Building Harmonious Doctor-patient Relationship on Hospital Development

Abstract: Objective To explore the effect of building harmonious doctor-patient relationship on hospital development. Methods The influencing factors of doctor-patient relationship in hospital in 2012 were analyzed to compare the growth indexes of medical quality, hospital staffs, hospital culture and hospital core competitiveness before and after the harmonious doctor-patient relationship building, from aspects of hospital process re-engineering, hospital salary incentive mechanism, hospital quality management and harmonious doctor-patient relationship building. Results Medical quality:The number of outpatient and emergency visits, total number of discharge, average hospitalization cost and cure or improvement rate after the building were significantly larger or higher, and the average length of stay was significantly shorter;Hospital staffs:After the building, training coverage rate, success rate of continuing education, the person-time of professional development in other hospitals, the person-time of improving education background, popularity rate of office automation were significantly higher than that before the building;Hospital culture:The commending person-time above hospital level, the adoption rate of rationalization suggestion proposed by staffs, the average person-time of discharge and satisfaction level of staffs after the building were significantly higher than that before the building;Hospital core competition:After the building, the number of research project, scientific achievement awards and publications was significantly larger than that before the building (P<0.05), the comparison of new technology and new project between the two groups had no statistically significant difference. Conclusion The harmonious doctor-patient relationship building is conducive to improving the quality of hospital medical service, promoting the growth of medical staffs, optimizing the environment of hospital culture and improving hospital core competitiveness.
