Abstract: Objective To investigate the effect of colorectal cancer postoperative intestinal colostomy on the psychological status of patients. Methods To investigate the psychological status of 83 patients with colostomy with Clinical Symptom Checklist (SCL-90) and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and to compare the results with that of normal population. Results Patients with colostomy had higher scores of depression, phobic anxiety and interpersonal sensitivity in SCL scale than normal population (P<0.01 or P<0.05). Conclusion Patients with colostomy had obvious mental symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, horror and interpersonal sensitivity. Therefore, in the process of treatment, more attention should be paid to the psychological factors related to the process of disease occurrence, development and treatment and measures should be taken to carry out the relevant psychological interventions.
