Abstract: The method of FTF which is based on the failure modeeffect and criticality analysis(FMEA) and fault tree analysis(FTA) is used in the reliability research for variable speed hydrodynamic coupling. The article use the method of FTF to make a qualitative analysis for failure mode of variable speed hydrodynamic coupling. This method identify the key failure mode and important parts then put forward the improvement measures .
