Abstract: Objective Discuss practical significance and effect of fine management on medical records by taking special examination as the breakthrough point. Method Divide medical records into several items and examine all departments on the same item while some departments would be randomly examined whole medical records. Quantize the examination results and combine them with departments' performance so that department quality control would be given importance. Results The proportion of grade A medical records of the whole hospital increased and the incidence of problems declined. The leading cause of grade B medical records was error of principle due to copy and paste (41%). Criticize and punish the departments with the proportion of grade A medical records lower than 90%and form healthy competition between departments、wards, which would give full play of quality control in departments. Conclusion Fine management on medical records by taking special examination as the breakthrough point is an effective way to improve medical records quality.
