Abstract: Objective We discuss about the education mode of building up and consolidating patients' healthy behavior and enhancing patients' self-management abilities. Method We sampled 78 patients who were hospitalized between October and December 2011. Workshop was used to enhance patients' self-protecting ability and change their behavior. Assessments were conducted three times by using self-designed assessing table. The assessments were conducted when participants were admitted to hospital, before they left hospital, and 6 months after they left hospital. The study was aimed at finding out the effectiveness of the diabetes workshop's education mode in realizing patients' self-management. Results Assessing table contains 10 items. The indexes of before leaving hospital and 6 months after leaving hospital can be used for comparing with the index of being in hospital. The differences have statistic meaning (P<0.05). The comparing result is that the indexes of before leaving hospital and 6 months after leaving hospital are similar (P>0.05). Conclusion The diabetes workshop's education mode is workable and can make the goal of patients' self-management come true.
