Abstract: With more and more people paying attention to the grassland Silk Road, mining the culture of grassland business has become our new research topic. In 2018, I had the honor to get acquainted with a brother and sister from Huai’an, Hebei Province, who were nearly 90 years old. Their father was just the trader who went through the grassland and desert to Great Kulun during the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. The trade has lasted nearly 20 years. In the form of interview memoirs, this paper recounts the experience of his father’s business in Kulun those years, so as to cover the shortage of historical records of the long annihilation of the grassland Silk Road.
