Abstract: At the end of November 1914, Kozuyi Otani embarked on a three-year-long overseas journey of "sensual pleasures" to China. Judging from his travelogue Notes on Free Spirits and Sensual Pleasures, Kozuyi not only experienced the natural beauty of China, the so-called "fun experience of China", but also paid close and constant attention to the Sino-Japan and international political situation, did meticulous colonization planning and frequently met and communicated with relevant personnel and figures, thus revealing a different aspect to his travels.Near the end of his journey of "sensual pleasures", Kouzuyi put forward his theory of "Asianism". If domestic and international factors were said to be the inducing or external conditions for the formation of "Asianism", then the aforementioned aspect of Kouzuyi Otani’s journey of "sensual pleasures"undoubtedly serves as the internal cause of the theory.
