Abstract: Three patients mainly complained pain in lumbar-leg,head and the extremities and were diagnosed as chronic mercury poisoning by cosmetics or external drugs were reported in this paper.By reviewing their medical history,the authors discovered that the urine mercury level was higher than normal.Thereafter the diagnosis was made as chronic mercury poisoning.After mercury removal treatment,the pain disappeared.Misdiagnosis can be easily made if ignoring the occupation or contact history in the patients with mercury poisoning and pain as main clinical symptoms.Once a patient diagnosed as chronic mercury poisoning,mercury displacement should be treated as soon as possible.
