Influence of Process Parameters on Magnesium Matte White Glaze for Domestic Ceramics

Abstract: Magnesium matte glaze was prepared with feldspar,calcite,kaolin,quartz,and calcined talc.Effects of the firing temperature,holding time,ball grinding time,cooling rate and firing atmosphere on the glaze whiteness and glossiness were studied.The experiment results show that when the formula is composed of 35.7wt.% potash feldspar,30.4wt.% burnt talc,8.0wt.% kaolin,15.2wt.% quartz,and 10.7wt.% calcite,prepared with the best parameters – firing at 1300 ℃,ball milling for 3 min,holding for 20 min,oxidized-firing,and cooling at normal rate,the magnesium matte white glaze with the whiteness of 78.5% and the gloss of 6.0% can be obtained.
