Abstract: The Northern Wei Dynasty Buddhism is a peak of Buddhism in the history of our country. Tanyao is famous monks as the Northern Wei Dynasty. He had made great contributions and exerted a profound influence on Buddhism in the Northern Wei Dynasty and later dynasties. Therefore, he plays a very important role in the history of Chinese Buddhism. The article focuses on the life of Tanyao, using the method of Archaeology and history,combing through the textual research on the life of the Northern Wei Dynasty Buddhism and Tanyao development to make the contribution to the Northern Wei Dynasty Buddhism, Buddhism in the period of Northern Wei Pingcheng political factors affecting the development of the situation, so as to explore the relationship between political development and Buddhism of Northern Wei Pingcheng period.
