From Xuanwu to Zhenwu——A Research of Zhenwu’s Belief in Song Dynasty and It’s Modern Value

Abstract: Zhenwu formerly called Xuanwu, and is known as the god of Northern Stars. In Northern Song Dynasty, Xuanwu renamed Zhenwu, its name, function, image of a major evolution has taken place, this evolution is the result of the formation of the myth of the holy king. Under the interaction of government officials and civilians, the faith of Zhenwu became one of the important beliefs of the Song Dynasty people, and Zhenwu was also widely worshiped by officials and civilians in Song Dynasty. The Taoist belief in true martial arts advocates a life attitude that enhances self-cultivation. It is of great positive significance in cultivating people’s perseverance and self-improvement in their values of life, values and loyalty.
