Abstract: Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of insulin intensive therapy in patients with ICU-acquired weakness. Methods Fifty-two patients were randomly divided into control group and study group, with each group of 26 cases. The control group was given conventional insulin therapy to control blood glucose at 180 mg to 200 mg.The study group was given intensive insulin therapy to control blood glucose at 80 mg to 110 mg,the rest of the treatment was the same as the control group. We recorded and compared British Medical Research Council (MRC) muscle strength score,Modified Barthel Index (MBI) Score and mechanical ventilation time,ICU hospital stay and total length of stay of the two groups of patients with primary disease after 1,2,and 3 months. Results Compared with the control group, the MRC and MBI scores of the study group were higher than those of the former (all P<0.05),and the duration of hospitalization and total length of hospital stay were lower in the study group than in the control group (all P<0.05).Conclusion Intensive insulin therapy can control the occurrence and development of ICU-acquired weakness and improve the prognosis of patients.
